Located in the Gothic Quarter, one of the oldest and most historical areas of the city, The Onsider Mercè is a historical building from 1598 perviously known as Casa Verdagues, whose architect was also in charge of the renowned Ricardo Bofill Taler de Arquitectura.
Part of Bofill’s proposal and in conjunction with Heritage of Barcelona, it was decided to completely refurbish the building but conserving the relevant structures such as the facades, both the exterior to Plata and Mercè streets, as well as the interior facade of the typical patio that is located in the buildings of the Gothic quarter.
Bofill’s postmodernist legacy becomes visible in a fresh project that preserves the past by merging it with new trends and taking care of even the smallest detail to make Mercè the impressive new luxury residential building for the most daring cosmopolitans who decide to make of Barcelona their home away from home.
